Environment
We offer comprehensive legal advice in all areas of environmental law and assist both public and private actors. With our broad experience, we work with all sectors. We have experience of, among other things, quarries, infrastructure, industry and public inspection activities. Our advice is customised to the specific needs of the case and coordinated with other advisors. We regularly assist clients in matters relating to authorisation processes, regulatory issues and liability for contaminated land.
Our most common assignments in environmental law include:
- Permits, notifications and exemptions – we assist operators or owners in environmental processes, which are mainly divided into environmentally hazardous activities and water activities. Exemption cases include, for example, species protection, shore protection and Natura 2000.
- Supervision – advice that may arise during ongoing operations, such as orders from the supervisory authority.
- Contaminated land – we provide advice on contaminated land, including liability investigations, monitoring and compensation issues.
- Disputes – including damages under Chapter 32 of the Environmental Code, water disputes and allocation of costs under Chapter 10 of the Environmental Code.
- Environmental due diligence – carried out when selling property and businesses.
- Neighbouring areas of law – fire protection issues under the Act on Protection against Accidents, planning and building law and also water and sewerage law.
